Brooke Ligertwood: SEVEN (Live) Album Review

Brooke Gabrielle Ligertwood, more commonly known for her maiden name Brooke Fraser, is a budding New Zealand singer-songwriter. She is a worship leader for Hillsong Church and a producer and outstanding band member of Hillsong UNITED.

While with Hillsong UNITED, Brooke Fraser also released some albums as a solo artist. Her debut album is “What To Do With Daylight,” released in 2004. It became a massive hit in her home country, New Zealand. Since then, Brooke Fraser has continued her career as a solo artist. In 2018, she won a GRAMMY award as Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance with “What A Beautiful Name.”

She left Hillsong UNITED for a few years but is now back and participating in the band. Fast forward to the current year, 2022, Brooke has graced the Christian music community with her first live solo album with the title “Seven.” This is also her seventh solo album, hence the title. Although this time, Brooke will officially promote with her married name: Brooke Ligertwood.

“Seven’s” title track is called “A Thousand Hallelujahs.” It was a song she co-wrote with her talented husband, Scott Ligertwood. It is a very melodious song, starting with the mellow strum of a guitar. Brooke’s voice remains the same angelic voice she had since the beginning of her fruitful career.

The rest of the songs in the album are equally memorable ballad-sounding worship songs. “Communion” is a piano-led sacred song that will surely ignite your spiritual life. There is also “Nineveh,” which was written poetically and will heal your soul. Another fan favorite from Brooke’s recent album is “Honey in the Rock.” Its music video features American Christia worship singer Brandon Lake.

This is undoubtedly only the beginning for Brooke as Brooke Ligertwood. Fans are already excited to see what the creative artist has prepared for the future.
